I’m a professional pastry chef, in case anyone give’s a rat’s you-know-what, and I think these look awesome. What is up with the complaining over freaking baked oatmeal cups? OMG. milk…or ‘I’m a baker and it makes no difference’…whine, whine, whine. I laugh at everyone who says ‘I’m this-and-that baker’…why are you using water v. There’s nothing wrong with the effing font. Leave nasty, hateful comments and then don’t come back to read the backlash because they aren’t emotionally nor mentally equipped to handle it. 🙂 Mea Culpa isn’t going to come back and actually respond to any of these comments…she probably won’t even come back and read them. I assume it would be mostly in terms of flavour? If I’ve understood you correctly from some of your previous posts, you tend to experiment quite a lot with a recipe until it’s perfect, so if the use of water is a deliberate choice, would you mind sharing the secret behind why it’s preferable to milk in this recipe? Sorry but this sparked my curiosity as a fellow baker… Obviously it’s common to use water for bread baking, but it had never occurred to me that one might do it for sweet baked goods – but now that I’ve seen this I’m wondering how much difference the two liquids make. I’m curious about your reason for making them so small – is it to reduce the baking time? Second, I’ve never seen a recipe for cupcakes or muffins before that uses water as the main liquid. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat until you finish it.These look great as a snack! Just wondering about a couple of things – first, since they are meant as a ‘portable breakfast’, how come the recipe is for small cupcakes rather than large muffins? I mean, even with some peanut butter and fruit (as you suggest) you’d need about four of these for a normal breakfast, so it just seems like a decent sized muffin would make more sense. My heart was pounding and my mind was going fast trying to figure out how it was all going to end. This book is so suspenseful I had no idea which person was the true bad guy.

Of course, I’m not sure how Cassidy’s life could get more difficult!Ĭhristy Barritt truly is a gifted author, because her books are always so full of interesting adventures, that make it so hard to breathe. The author also weaves in a strong hope in God’s protective hand, and the realization that without God, life can be much more difficult. I loved seeing how Cassidy had touched so many people and they all wanted to help her. I had thought the author had stopped writing about these characters, but she brought them all back, like visiting old friends. In this story, you think, “Sweet, a Christmas story.” Well, you might get that and a whole lot more! I truly enjoyed reading this book because it was nice to reconnect with some of these characters. They start off with a bang, and keep going! She also has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat, reading until the very last word. I LOVE all of Christy Barritt’s books because they are so full of action, intrigue, drama, suspense, and sometimes romance. Really, a “Silent Night” with any of Christy Barritt’s books? NOT! If you’ve ever read any of her books you know that there is no such thing as a silent night, and especially on Lantern Beach with Police Chief Cassidy Chambers. And the Christmas setting was perfect for this time of the year. It was more of just suspense to see if Cassidy can be rescued before the birth of her baby. It wasn’t a whodunnit, though, which I prefer.
Always a pleasure to be back in Lantern Beach, the crime capital of the world!! What I really enjoyed about this book was the many chapters in the perspective of various Lantern Beach characters from over the years. This was an entertaining and quick Christmas cozy read. “Faith is the only thing that’s gotten us through. Lord, I beg You now to watch over this baby of mine also.” You kept Your promises to Mary and Joseph. Yet His birth transformed mankind as we know it. “Lord, Your Son was born as a baby into this world in circumstances that seemed uncertain. His miracles have continued throughout the years. It started with the miracle of God being born in human flesh.
